This Autumn in Paris gifts us beautiful concerts of Verdi, Mozart and Haydn on two unmissable dates in the month of November. Here are our recommendations for what to do in Paris in November 2019.
The first event is at La Madeleine church, a wonderful temple inspired by the classical age. The imposing Corinthian columns of the temple introduce the visitor to a splendid venue where the concert of Verdi’s Requiem will take place on November 23, 2019. The Hélios Orchestra and Tempestuoso Choir will be conducted by Jean Charles Dunard for this great classical music event.
The second date is November 30, 2019 at the church of Saint Germain des Prés, erected in 555 A.D. and thus considered as one of the most ancient places of worship in Paris. Here the Hélios Orchestra and the Elizabeth Brasseur Choir will perform the Requiem by Mozart and the Paukermesse by Haydn, conducted by Antoine Sebillotte.
Finally, for opera and history lovers, the Paris Opéra is presenting Le Grand Opéra Exhibition, from October 24, 2019 to February 2, 2020. The exhibition runs through the period from 1828 to 1867, when the great opera in France, closely linked to the XIX century and to the city of Paris, is characterized by luxurious settings and the presence of ballet. 1828 is certainly the starting point of this epoch, when Daniel Auber brings La Muette de Portici (The Mute Girl of Portici) to the stage and Gioachino Rossini presents William Tell. The great opera favours historical topics and is thus the expression of the passions of its time. France, under Louis Philippe of Bourbon-Orléans, is led by Mérimée, Guizot and Viollet-Le-Duc to rediscover its past and heritage and glorify them through dance and music. The exhibition at the Opéra in Paris shows paintings, models, costumes and musical manuscripts dating back to the years of spectacular music and choreographic creation of the great French opera.
